I think it really depends on the subject. Because upper math is so involved I think at least $30 is fair. At my school teachers charge $10-15 per hour to tutor an individual after school in the classroom. Some charge that and have as many as 4 students at a time. I worked for a tutoring company about 10 years ago. The company collected $20 from the parent and got $12. I used to tutor at another school about 4 years ago and I charged $20 for lower elementary. I dont tutor at my current school because I dont think 10-15 is enough. I also dont think it is fair to the student or parent paying for the teacher to tutor more than one at a time. I would say $30 an hour in a fairly weathy area (as you stated) but I would only use a college student majoring in education or a teacher with lower elementary experience. Reason: my husband is a CPA and is great at math but he is definitely not a teacher if you know what I mean?!
