Tuesday through Friday every week last year. I give homework Mon. through Thurs. nights. While the students do silent reading, I had one at a time come up to my desk and hand in their homework. If it was all there, they could roll the dice to play the game. There were a few who just didn't do homework, no matter what, but for the huge majority, it was a great incentive.
This year, I'm thinking about having the helper of the day sit at a desk at the back of the room and collect the homework for me so that I can conference with a few students a day. I'll have to see whether this is just too distracting, | |
but no matter who collects it, we'll be playing it again this year. So far, I'm the only teacher in the school who uses it, and word has passed down to the kids who will be in my class this year. They're expecting it!:)
