I did go to school in the same district as my current school. The "newly merged school" you mention is throwing me off a bit. If you mean the middle school/high school, then I'm wondering if we have something in common.

I went to Westminster College, very close to SRU. I can't say that they were so much responsible for preparing me to teach urban kids. I think the choices I made while in college had more to do with my preparation. I asked my advisor to place me in an urban district for student teaching because I wanted to learn from an experienced urban teacher. I also threw myself to the wolves when I moved to DC for my first two years of teaching! LOL
