me bag
By Bertie

Clip to ScrapBook
At the beginning of the year, I use a paper lunch bag. That limits how much they can put in it. I ask for things that will teach us more about them...sports, family, collections, hobbies, teams, etc. Not toys. I also
send a note to parents in the bag with that reminder. It's almost the same exact note as Mrs James, bet I got it from this site too. We use this bag as part of our first phonics unit (from Cunningham's Month by Month Phonics for First Grade) where we learn to read/spell each others names.

Later in the year, when I'm doing a "Super Star" thing, I give them a bigger "Brag Bag" which
is actually a beach bag. Again, I suggest things that help us learn more about them and their lives at home, not toys. (Still I do get toys occasionally but not often.)
