Our school doesn't allow parents to walk their kids in. All parents who are visiting are also supposed to sign in at the office. Of course there are those who try, and do, to sneak in but it doesn't seem to happen very often.
A couple of years ago I had a parent come in and yell at me in front of my class - that was a horrible experience but luckily rare. He had to be escorted from the building and was then banned from campus by our county security office. Thankfully his child has moved on to middle school now.

In the class handbook I give out at the beginning of the year, I ask parents not to come

to our classroom to speak to me without an appointment. Here's the direct quote-

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A CONFERENCE, PLEASE CONTACT ME TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. I DO NOT CONDUCT UNSCHEDULED CONFERENCES - PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT TO "STOP BY" AND BE ABLE TO HAVE AN EXTENDED CONVERSATION WITH ME WITHOUT A CONFERENCE APPOINTMENT. MY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY DURING THE SCHOOL DAY IS TEACHING, AND CONVERSATIONS WITH PARENTS WHILE STUDENTS ARE IN THE ROOM DO NOT ALLOW FOR NEEDED PRIVACY OR MY FULL FOCUS ON THE ISSUE BEING DISCUSSED. THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!

I guess those all-caps are really subtle, huh? :p
