First grader
By Eydie

Clip to ScrapBook
I had a first grader with a mother like you described. Our parents also have to say good-bye in the hall but she would come into the room in tears. I told her that it was O.K. to cry and miss her momma but she would have
to cry in the class bathroom, then when she was ready, come on out and I would give her a teacher hug to begin her day at school. She did this for about three days and then one morning walked in and anounced, "I think I'll skip the bathroom and just hug you today!" No problem after that!

I think your right though, that some mommas are so attached to their little ones that they do
miss them terribly and so they egg on the crying because in some twisted way the tears from their crild help validate their own feelings. They let the child cry instead of letting their own tears go. Also, I've had a parent who seemed jealous me and the time I was spending with her child. She ended up keeping him home several days saying he was sick and then took him out altogether to "homeschool" him.
