One year I had a Second Grader who cried at the drop of a hat ALL YEAR. It was totally disruptive because all the children had to empathize and try to help. We tried everything to extinguish this behavior: conferences, the counselor, stories, etc. Finally, when I had had enough, I told him to suck it up. Privately I told the other children in the class to try to ignore him when he got fired up. It worked. Maddie
