Re: Difficult teacher
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
One of my first principals dealt with this by giving the difficult teacher a choice. She could either take the students with disabilities AND MEET THEIR NEEDS or she could have only typical students but have 4 or 5 more
kids than the other teachers and no sped teacher/aide time. She chose typical students for a year or two and then decided to give it a try with the students with disabilities again. It worked well for everyone. When she took the typical kids, her class still never got above 25 students (out state limit) and it gave everyone else clases of 20 or 21 and a little extra aide time. When she
went back to sped students also, it was her choice so she was more willing to work with us. We were also more experienced by that time and could be a better support to her which was important.
