3 Rotation system works
By linda2671

Clip to ScrapBook
I did mine like ITeachFirst for years. I really liked it because it was quieter. The kids loved the centers and worked quietly. They also worked quietly at seatwork, because they didn't have to do it for long periods of time.
A couple of years ago, I added a partner reading rotation. For instance, if I have four reading groups, one group goes to Guided Reading, one group goes to centers, one group goes to seatwork, and one group reads the guided reading book their group is working on. They can break their group into partners, or the whole group can sit in a circle and take turns reading. When you finish
working with one group, all groups rotate. This continues until every group has done all four things. It works well with first graders because they change activities about every 20 minutes. They know they have to stay on task so they can get finished before the next rotation.
