We are trying departmentalized this year. By Teach2Threes
|
| I have been self-contained for 9 years now, and this year we decided like another poster mentioned to split the subjects so that each third grade teacher had only one TAKS subject to focus on. I will teach math/science/social studies to my homeroom and then the kids will switch and I will teach those subjects to my switch class. I am very excited and very nervous all at the same time. I had taught both ways, but it's been a long time since I had to plan and organize a day where the kids change classes. A lot to plan and figure as far as discipline/management and such.
I was wondering as I typed if anyone has a copy of their departmentalized schedule? I am just curious how everyone else works their day's schedule.... Funny, in looking over the other posts I noticed someone said, it "means we can really build our strengths" and that is what our principal is saying also! We are teaching to our strengths for the good of all the children.

P.S. -- Our district does have a district wide bonus for state testing performance. If you happen to be in one of the grade levels that do not do as well on their tests, it really makes you feel uncomfortable when everyone starts talking about WHY they didn't get a bonus. :(
