For my first grade class, I cut travel pictures (mostly beach scenes) out of magazines and glued to to one side of an 8.5 x 11 piece of coverstock. On the other side of the coverstock, I had already printed the content (from| the book) of the notes that the punctuation marks sent to the class, only they were addressed to my class. I also happened to have some stickers that looked like stamps, so I put those on too. When finished, it looks like an oversized postcard. As I read the book aloud, I pull out each "postcard" as it appears in the book. The kids "ooh" and "ahh" over the beautiful vacation picture | | on one side of the card, and it's easier for them to read the note on the other side, because I used the largest font that could fit. That way, we can have a better discussion about what's wrong with the notes, because the kids can see the words better.
I hoped I explained this in a way that can be understood! :o The "postcards" are at school, but if you're interested I can take a digital pic of them and post or send them to you. Have fun with this great book! Ü
