Money system
By Erica

Clip to ScrapBook
Janice, I am getting ready to begin my first year teaching and was considering using the same kind of token economy- with money. I was wondering if you think it will be effective for students with moderate disabilities and
how often do you let your students shop at the store? I would like to use pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters because most of my students have coin recognition as an IEP goal. I was thinking that I would reward them with a penny or something for good behavior. I would like for them to gain the concept of saving, etc. I thought I might need to have my "Store" open at the end of each
day at the start of the year, so my students will understand that earning the money is a good thing. However, I would like to try to decrease the time that the store is open to maybe once a week, eventually. Like I said, I am just getting ready to begin my first year teaching and my students are in grades K-5 and have moderate to severe handicaps. I am trying to get as many ideas as I can. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks!
