I took it awhile ago. I had planned to take the GRE, but got really bogged down in studying for the section with the logic problems...thought my head was going to explode! I found out the MAT was an alternative and jumped on it. I'm a word person (read all of the time and like word puzzles, etc.) so this was a perfect fit. I didn't do anything to prepare...just showed up and took it. I thought it was easy because it fit my strength. If vocab. and words aren't your thing, I'd probably get some of the review materials.
