I'm not a decorator, but I love doing a theme. I agree with the others that it just helps tie things together. The look on the kids faces when they see the jungle vines in the library is priceless! Mine ties in with our study of Africa, so it really gets the kids excited about it.
Are themes necessary? No, but they sure are fun! :D
If you're not interested in them, they probably wouldn't be fun. It doesn't really take any more time to do them than just preparing your room in general, so don't let that stop you. I normally draw out my ideas over the summer so I can just put everything up when | |
I get into my room. I use the same theme for years, so money isn't a factor.
I can't prove that they help kids learn any better, but they sure make them happy to be there! :)
