Keep it simple

I've only been teaching a few years, and I used to go a little overboard, but have been cutting back on what little goodies I get and how much I spend (I work at a Catholic school, so first of all, I am really unpaid, and second of all, I have anywhere from 27-30 kids each year). Another thing is, I would often find the little goodies on the floor, smushed in the hallway, etc. Last year I just bought pencils and funky erasers and Jolly Rancher lollipops. Each student had one of each on their desk when they came in, along with a HW pass. (I teach 5th grade). I think I will do that again this year.
