Please tell your kids stories. I use the text as an outline most of the year. I read to them, tell them the stories from the text ,use picture books, add writing,skits, plays ,and games. I'm a historical reenactor and I do first person living histories for my kids as well. I you love history, and show it, your kids will too.
I would start by telling them the story of their state: Founders, ect. To find out how much they learned the year before,let them add to your story either with a brainstorm .Or have them Tell their own history.(also a great icebreaker.) Good Luck!!!!
