Clip to ScrapBook
I started using a welcome bag a few years ago and have found to be very helpful. Many kids are so excited and nervous it gives them something to focus on besides their fear. I usually put a pencil and a cap eraser in the
bag. I add a food treat that they are allowed to eat a little while later as the morning grows long. I have put little tubs of play-doh or similar dough in the bag with a little cutter. (this is a little pricey). The kids love the dough, it really helps to break the ice. They can knead it, cut it, shape it, etc. I know of some teachers who make the play dough themselves and put it into zip
sandwich bags. I include a little note-Postcard size from me welcoming them to my class. I was really nervous about using the play dough the first year, and was so pleasantly surprised, I have been doing it ever since.:s)
