Clip to ScrapBook
Hi there, I am in the middle of teaching my third graders division and I finallly found something that works. I drew pictures on a pieces of paper (trees, bags, cookies, etc.) I give each group of students 10 cut outs with whatever theme i am using. I also give them a baggie full of corn kernels. I would then give them a problem as followed: If i had 36 candies and 9 cookies how many pieces of candies would i have on each cookie. I then show them the problem 36/9 = ? In groups the students use their kernels, count out how many they need, and then use the pictures to help them divide the candies out. My students love it and it becomes a race to see who can get the correct answer first. I hope it works for you.
