When I taught K, we did it for a whole week at a time. 1 student would provide snacks for the whole week and then they only had to do snacks 1-2 times that year. Every 5-6 weeks we did a leftover week. We were pretty low income so I suggested animal crackers, graham crackers, popcorn etc.

I didn't do snacks with my 1st graders and because of our schedule it worked out fine. We would have snack for special occasions, but Texas is really pushing the FMNV thing so we have to be careful of what we give the kiddos. :)
