Clip to ScrapBook
I like the new names for the levels. I KNOW we've had this exact conversation before, but I can't find it in the archives. Will you please refresh my memory...

1. You don't do a daily report of colors, letters,
or levels to parents, do you? I have always caved to grade-level pressure in the past and done this, but I don't think it's very effective at all. This year I plan to start the year with the levels/ charts like you mention, handle problems that arise on an individual basis, and do notes home on an as-needed basis. I also plan to make it a point to send more specific, short, positive
notes home.

2. Have you had any need to incorporate the "rest stop" ideas from Responsive Classroom? I liked the idea and have used it some- having kids draw their behavior on half of a form, what the better choice would have been on the opposite half.

3. Do you have any set "consequences" that you explain to your kids at the begining of the year, or do you do more of the "logical consequences" on a case-by-case basis?

I don't think that I have had many, if any, kids who behaved any differently due to the goofy red, yellow, green chart. I rarely use it since I think kids who are enganged and motivated don't mis-behave too much. Any kids I've had major behavior problems with were special cases who could have cared less about the colors and needed much more individualized plans!
