HI! Don't know if this will work for you, but it works wonderfully for me. I have a big stoplight (traced by overhead and decorated to look light real thing) hanging on the back of our classroom door. Hanging underneath| the light is a strip of green paper and a strip of red paper. Each student has a clothes pin with his/her name. The pins all start on the green side. Anytime I am not teaching, students may move their clip to leave for the restroom. They simply move it from the green strip the first time they leave and clip on the light. When they return, the students move their clip to the red strip. | | (This lets me know who has left the room at least once.) The rule is that one boy and one girl may be gone from the room at one time. You just have to pay attention to who leaves and how much. Every once in a while I have someone to abuse the system, so I put them on "buddy patrol", which means they can't go to restroom without my permission and a buddy. It's wonderful to not have to hear "Can I go to the restroom?" every two minutes!!!
