Children's literature
By NJ Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I would begin to build a collection of children's books including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. These books will be useful to you across a wide variety of grade levels. I would stay away from anything too advanced or too
primary yet, because you don't know what grade you will be teaching. My student teachers do not need to buy anything specific for the classroom, because I have so much. I would recomment starting seasonal idea files for yourself using the teacher's resources so you have a starting point, and photocopy any of her ideas from her resource books.Because you will be doing it in the spring,
talk to her about how she would set up her classroom in the beginning of the year. Also, use your digital camera throughout the school to capture the ideas of your colleagues. Good luck to you. I am having a student teacher in the fall and can't wait. You sound very organized and enthusiastic. Good luck to you!:s)
