I would suggest giving her some of the school supplies which you have a lot of: post-its, paper clips, pencils, and pens. Let her use one of your organizational centers until she has her own. Definitely give her an outline of district, school, and classroom policies; a copy of the grade level standards (maybe highlighting those you might like her to teach). I also gave my student teacher a handful of file folders (which she labeled as she chose), so that she could file things she needed to (student papers, worksheets, activities). I also let my student teacher borrow my classroom picture the first week. I explained that I wanted her to get to know the students and learning their names and something about them was important the first week. Also, let her see your welcome letter and/or Open House packet and explain that you would like her to use those as a model to write a letter (which will be sent home) introducing herself to parents.
