    after hearing you all say policy was 15, i called a staples this morning, and the manager said last year, the corporate stance was: no breaking the rules for teachers. but this year, he just got a memo stating that teachers could get 15. he explained that it was the biggest thing they hear about all year. he also said it was rough that teachers have to spend their own money. he said many people are disappointed when they come in to get the sales and they are all out. (hello--come the first day!)

    anyway, he said i could go to his store and then go to the other one. or just go out to my car and then come back in (such a wimp; i can't!)

    so i went back and got my 15 and then went to the other and got another 15. (i just got pencil sharpeners because i give every student one at beginning of year and folders for monday folders.) i got just 3 boxes of pencils, because, honestly, i still have some leftover from last year!

    anybody else feel guilty, like you felt like you had to buy other things? (guess it doesn't really matter, because SOMEONE would buy those things, who cares whose penny it was?)
