school we decided to stick to only 6 colors for our word wall. I think it had something to do with having enough, but not to many colors. Any way the colors are flourescent(sp?) yellow, orange, pink, green, blue, & red. We put up 6 words at a time one with each color. It helps the students focus on the words and the colors help distinguish each one.

Later when you do word wall activities the colors may help in separating the words when you play "guess the word" or other games.

Hope this helps.
