Nine square zone By mamahawk

When one of my sons was in first grade he just couldn't sit still (we did the diet changes in second grade which made a HUGE difference). Anyway, his teacher gave him a side seat in the back. She showed him how the tiles| on the floor were 12" square. She helped him figure out a large square area three squares wide and three squares long. She told him she didn't care what he did in those nine square feet - sit in, on, under the desk, on his head, kneeling on seat - whatever. If he stayed in his "Nine Square Zone" she would check off his behavior chart. She started him off slowly. I think like 10-15 | | minute intervals and increased the check time up to before lunch and after lunch. Much happier time for him and her. BTW when the diet kicked in in 2nd grade his teacher called to ask if my son was now being medicated. It took a couple of weeks but it worked for him (not perfect but big difference). Basically the diet was to remove ALL dairy products, processed foods, and sugar.
