would be my advice. the bonding that happens when kids start school at the same time and continue on is very strong.

there have been studies that show children who are the younger students in a class tend not to be very assertive, where as students who are older are more often put in positions of power (class president, etc).

hopefully, the kindergarten teacher will be willing to work with you to create enrichment for your child. good luck. :s)
