I taught in NC for 5 years prior to moving to TN and will return this summer. I do not think a school can just choose not to do 504 plans. It is sad that there are professionals out there like your school psychologist who are unwilling to do what, I think, is legally expected of them. I would research what your psychologist has said regarding the 504. I may be mistaken, but I think like IEPs they are legally binding documents and therefore would have to be utilized as needed in the public school setting. I wish you and the little guy the best for the upcoming school year.
