Good luck with your tasmanian devil :) This brings back memories to me! This past school year I had a boy with the absolute worse case of ADHHHHHHD I have every seen. He was also very low and special ed. He lived with his| grandmother who wouldnt give him medicine. Instead gives him Nony (sp?) Juice. She said it cleans out the toxins in the body! I am a pretty structured teacher anyway but I had to be the most consistent with him. He couldnt handle change and would throw a fit. Many days he completely refused to do any work. I had to completely change my behavior management system. He had to have an incentive | | daily not weekly in order to behave. He also had to have constant positive reinforcement, so I made sure when he was behaving, I bragged on him and he loved it. Oh and I also sat him near my desk so that when he was working independently I could constantly redirect him back on task. Now next year there is one coming up that is supposed to be 10 times worse. I have seen him in bus duty and have already had a few instances with him. He is obviously EC. We have all been saying I dont want him...we all have excuses as to why we shouldnt have him in our class. (BTW, our grade level (3rd) makes the 4th grade roster for the coming year. However our principal decides which roster goes to which teacher and usually makes changes to our lists) so I wont know until a few days before school starts who will be in my class.
