Constellations
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
I do the following constellation activity with my 3rd graders:

Materials:
-Black construction paper
-Sticky stars

I have them put sticky stars on the black construction paper to form a constellation. Students
can connect the stars using colorful gel pens that show up on black construction paper.

I have heard of another idea, but I haven't tried it myself. You use empty film canisters (ask a place like Wal-Mart photo department to save them for you in advance) and students use straight pens to stick in the bottom of the the canister in a constellation pattern. Then students hold them

up to the light and they can see their constellation. Students pass them around at look at each others constellations. Like I said, I haven't tried this activity.

Hope you can use these ideas.
