I didn't go to kindergarten
By Bonnie gr. 2

Clip to ScrapBook
I lived in Pennsylvania when I started school. Kindergarten wasn't required and the district in which I lived didn't offer it. The cut-off date for starting school was January 31 and I was born a week before the cut-off.
So I started first grade at 5 1/2, my first school experience. There were others in my grade the same age. I couldn't print my name or tie my shoes. Academically, it was not a big problem. I had the usual problems but nothing out of the ordinary. I moved to New Jersey as a freshman in high school. I was younger than everyone else. I graduated high school at 17 1/2, an honor student
in both high school and college.

Socially it wasn't a problem when I was young. Eighth grade was bad socially, but that is uncommon. High school was also difficult socially at times but because I moved in the middle of a school year, not because I was younger.

Good luck with your decision.
