my 2 kids. My oldest just finished Kindergarten and while it was a good experience, it was kind of a waste of time. She got bored with the routine of centers, etc. She needed more challenging work - she had already "done"
so much of the kindergarten type stuff with me at home. She turned 5 the January before starting Kindergarten. She was never tested for IQ - but many of the things you mentioned she was doing. My 2nd daughter is even further ahead that her older sister was at the same age. She is now 4 (March birthday). I'm changing schools, maybe that will make my #2's kindergarten experience more

worthwhile. My previous school was very high poverty, at-risk. My new school, while not more affluent, is more successful.

In NC, kindergarten is not required. What we have considered is keeping our 2nd out of kindergarten and "homeschooling" her. Then enrolling her straight into first grade.

I'll be watching this thread closely. Wish I had more for you than I do.
