If the jobs are in two different districts then yes you can probably get out of your contract. My advice would be to call and speak with the person with whom you accepted the position and signed the contract and simply be honest in letting them know that you've been offered a position with a school that is closer to home and although you are very appreciative of their time and opportunity that as you began thinking about what was better for your family in the long run you feel this would be better. I will tell you from the experience of a friend that your chances of applying and interviewing with that district again may be slim to none. In other words by breaking your contract you could be burning a bridge in the future so make sure you do in fact feel very good about the last offer.
