    Class from the Black Lagoon

You can read "Class From the Black Lagoon," then talk about what kind of class your class should be (NOT the class from the black lagoon). We then make a social contract (from Capturing Kids' Hearts). I ask the kids 4 questions, while they're in groups, and then we compile the list together:

    1. How do you want your me to treat you?
    2. How do you think I want you to treat me?
    3. How do you want to treat each other?
    4. How should we treat each other when we're upset at each other?

We get about 20-30 words that are meaningful for my class (respectful, nice, caring...) and I add 100% effort, confidentiality, and no bullying (non-negotiables). Then, during our morning meetings, we chant and discuss our social contract. It's very important to my class and works wonders on building a kind, caring class!
