In response to your glass idea...Did you know they sell clear plastic (its thick and flexible) desk mats at office supply stores? I have one on my desk at school and replace it every few years. I agree that I love having important lists, schedules, etc. right there at my fingertips. Just thought it might be more user-friendly than glass.
