Neat idea from another teacher

When I first began teaching, I got a great idea from another teacher. She had a piece of glass cut to the size of her desk top and put double sided, thick felt stickies on the corners to adhere it. Important papers, like the fire escape route, set schedules for students going out of the classroom, pictures and other miscellaneous slid right under the glass. She said it was like having two desktops!! I'm having a piece of glass cut for my desk this year.
As far as student papers and files, I keep students from coming up to my desk unless it's for a question and have them turn in papers at another area in the room.:s)
