Great First Day Stories
By Caitlin

Clip to ScrapBook
There are a couple of stories I like to read to my students on the first few days of school. The first one is "The Teacher From the Black Lagoon". The book is about a child who thinks his teacher, Mrs. Green, is a terrible green monster. We talk about the fears and expecatations my students bring with them to school at the beginning of a new year.
The second book I like to read to my students at the beginning of the year is "Lilly and the Purple Plastic Purse". It is about a little mouse named Lilly who loves school until she breaks a class rule and gets in trouble and how she fixes her mistake. This book helps facilitate a discussion about class rules and consequences. Hope this gives you a few ideas!
