assignment notebooks
By nicole

Clip to ScrapBook
I opt to use assignment notebooks. The ones I order are perfect for grade three. There are colorful pictures that correspond with the months of the year and a space for spelling words. At the beginning of the year I spend
a good 30 minutes at the end of the day teaching the children how to write in the notebook. I grab a special education teacher to help. She is able to check on the children that have more difficulties. I make sure everyone is on the same page. There are three lines so we use one line per subject. I also keep the homework consistant so the children adapt to the routine easily. It
take about 5 minutes by the end of October. I also have an assistant or special education teacher check my children on edplans. The parents need to sign the book and need to communicate with me if assignments are copied down incorrectly. Good luck. These really do teach the children the skill of organization and accountablility.
