It is my 3rd year and I'm stopping rewards--

My first year I kept a goody box filled with pencils, bracelets, bouncy balls, McD toys, etc. Last year, by Christmas, I had stopped that except on certain occasions. I did occsaionally do a popcorn party, free recess, or movie but not often.

Next year, I plan to give away a set of leveled readers no longer in use and posssibly some fun activities but no more "stuff." I want them to be more motivated by themselves than any little stuff I can give them. Plus, when we do "celebrate" something, I would rather that it was a "doing" thing rather than a "having" thing.

That is my choice--like another poster mentioned, you have to do what works best for you and your kids.
