assignment books

Even though you didn't really want to use assignment books it is a great way for parents to remain informed of what is going on. The way I use assignment books is I have a specific spot on my board where I keep a running record of the homework to be written down. The students use their free moments in between assignments to copy it down. They are completely responsible for keeping their notebooks up to date. At the end of the day I use a student helper or two to check notebooks and make sure they are up to date. If they are up to date then the student helper dismisses them to get their backpack and jackets so they can pack up. It works great and I don't have to feel rushed.
