I Agree 100% With the Other Posters

I also worked at Sylvan back from February 2004-April 2004. I was only paid I think $9.00 an hour. It wasn't worth it. I would have hours scheduled as well, only to be called in the morning by the Director, saying some of
my students cancelled and I would not be needed that day. Also, there are days that I would actually get to work, but only be scheduled for an hour and then sent home. I had to drive across town just to get to Sylvan. When my 30 day evaluation came up (which was actually 2 months later), they fired me because they said I had a negative attitude about the place, and a lot of the staff members
and parents had complaints against me. I really don't believe that, I think they just had too many teachers, and since I was the last one hired, first one fired, although they did hire another teacher after me. All Sylvan learning centers are different, but from what I have read, they are all the same too. I also agree with a previous poster, that it's better to do your own private tutoring instead of working at Sylvan. Hope this helps!
