sinking/floating=density
By tia

Clip to ScrapBook
if an object floats or sinks, is really dependent on its density--and that density compared to water.

density is volume (amount of stuff) divided by mass (roughly, weight). so anything that is lighter than water (a plastic ball is lighter than the same amount of water) floats. anything heavier than water (a cup of sand in a ziploc bag is heavier than a cup of water in a bag) sinks.

you might look for websites under the term: density. :s)
