Here's my biggest gripe. If kids cancelled, you lost hours. Each teacher would be scheduled to work with 2-3 children per hour. But if too many cancelled, they would pull teachers off the schedule and put the kids in other groups. There were days that I would get there and they would tell me that they only needed me for an hour. What a waste, especially with the price of gas. Other times, I would just get a phone call that they didn't need me. The thing that bothered me was that I was good at what I did. Parents would request me and everything. It was also frustrating because they played favorites. They would let some teachers work during both morning and afternoon hours and then cut other's hours. As you can tell, not a great experience. AS for the job itself, you reteach skills to students in small groups. Each child has an individualized plan for instruction. They are working towards mastering certain skills that they are behind grade level in. Hope this helps.
