phonics
By BookMuncher

Clip to ScrapBook
Words sorts would be phonics-- which would also be helpful, but phonemic awareness is strictly the ability of children to hear sounds/ take apart words/ rhyme/ etc... with seeing the word in print.

I've read lots of stuff that says that older kids do sometimes still lack phonemic awareness and cannot move forward until someone fills in this gap.
