Great Idea!

I like the idea. I think deciding on the pattern beforehand would be a good idea because then the students would have a set number of symbols to choose. It would help with patterns objectives in math and with elections/voting objectives in social studies (I am thinking about the students having to vote on which symbols to use). It would be a lot of work, but the kids should remember it more because they would have ownership. Good luck!:s)
