I cannot stand whne teachers use rewards and prizes for what I consider bribing them to behave - or even for answering the questions right - I just think it hurts them and the others who don't get them (unintentionally). I've seen kids get overlooked before and it makes me so angry. Then you get the kids that always "expect" something.

I will use '"caught being good tickets" and only give them for going above and beyond reasonable expectations. Then draw names at the end of the week and maybe let them eat lunch with the teacher, or have extra free time - I cannot stand FOOD as rewards either - I'm such a health nut and I can't stand the child obesity rate being the way it is - we don't need to encourage that any more than it alreayd is.
