library sales
By Nessa

Clip to ScrapBook
My local library always has a box of books that they are discarding for sale-usually 25 cents each. I pick up a lot of books or magazines like Ranger Rick. Sometimes they have a torn cover but that can be fixed with a bit
contact paper.

Also watch your library for used book sales. Most libraries do this once or twice a year. People donate books for the library to sell. You can pick up a lot of books cheap. On the last day of the sale they offered a "bag sale"- anything you could fit in a brown grocery bag for a dollar! I got half of my classroom library this way!

SCHOLASTIC- Send home the
scholastic book club order forms for your class. For each dollar they spend you get points that you can use to pick up new books for your class. I get at least 2 new books every month this way. Also, sometimes you will get parents to donate books or money from the book clubs.

HOLIDAYS- I ask that parents not give me gifts for Christmas/End of year. I ask that they purchase a book and write inside "Donated by _________".
