I agree 100%! I loved "Punished by Rewards." I do like to give "treats" to my students, but it's just random. If someone does an especially nice job on something, I'm all about celebrating, but I don't say "If you do this, you'll get this..." It has worked for me for 22 years.

It sounds like you already have a good plan in mind by setting and communicating your high expectations. Morning and/or afternoon meetings are also great.

I know that there are many teachers here at ProTeacher, and in my school who really believe in rewards/consequences. I'm glad to know there are a few that don't.
