I was lucky enough to hear Ron Clark speak in person several years ago. He is a very energetic speaker and you walk away from the experience very motivated. I have also read The Essential 55. In fact, I have given copies of it to a couple of former student teachers.

I don't use the actually rules but some ideas from them. I tried a reward for the class when everyone completed their homework but I found that some kids didn't care and didn't bring their homework. So the others repeatedly suffered. But I have used told my classes some of his stories and have tried to instill in them some of the values, such as saying thank you upon receiving something and knowing the other staff members in the building and acknowledging them.
