I'm Peter Pan at heart..

Clip to ScrapBook
I refuse to grow up. I do my best to stay connected to what is going on in their world, whether it be the TV shows they watch or the literature they read. I also have a tendency, when time allows, to sit down and do projects
with them. If it's a short term, in class project, I'll sit with one of the groups and do the activity with them and talk about what's going on, what movies are out, what book I just read, etc. In the beginning they're often amazed that I know about certain books, or that I watched that TV show, or that I know who some of the cartoon characters even are (I used to sing like JigglyPuff
to my second graders to get them to be quiet.. because when JigglyPuff sings, everyone goes to sleep. They'd all stop what they were doing and lay their heads down and pretend to be asleep until I stopped.. I still have a little JigglyPuff action figure on my desk that one of them gave me that year...LOL) When we have "game day" I always play a game with one of the groups... I love SET and Apples to Apples, so that's usually where I end up.

I've done with with every grade I've taught - first through sixth.
